July 2013 Barker

President Rusty Kingery called the meeting to order at 7:31pm. In attendance: Jan Leikam, Bo Gloster, Rusty and Dave Kingery, Michelle Brown, Geri Orta, Jackie Blumenstetter , Holly Berman, Laura Young, Tonya Gisselberg, and Dee Smiley.

President’s report: Rusty reported the board appointed a replacement for Dee Carlson’s position in which Laura Young accepted. A picture will be submitted of Dee, Ken and her two dogs dedicating the August show to her in the catalog and a plaque will be presented to Ken at the show. Sue Cox will help coordinate for Obedience. Jan reported the specialty clubs want information on their obedience judges. Bo said he has been in contact with the clubs who have not turned in their judging applications and make sure they get them filled out and turned in.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Bo. They were approved as printed.

Treasurer’s report: Jan reported in Patty’s absence. We are down $21,000 for expenses this year because of the site rental. A report was filed with Secretary.

Committee reports:

August 2013 show- Bo reported all the trophies are barb-a-que oriented this year. He would like decorations, and a name to support that theme including a barb-a- que lunch or social hour. The Marriott is giving us a discount for rooms this year. All the judges contracts are in. Hospitality and transportation is going to be arranged by Barbara. Patty is taking care of the dinner. The premium list still needs to be approved. We need people to help for grounds lay out on Wednesday before the show. The dumpsters and port a potties are ordered. The canopies have been repaired. We need a list of signage for the grounds. We are meeting with the Fire Marshall before the show to get the new regulations squared away. Sue Cox will help coordinate in obedience.

August 2014 show- Bo discussed that we have not signed a new contract yet with Marymoor. He talked about the problems with holding it in Puyallup and getting other groups to hold their show with ours. We will have a better idea in August after the show to see how our finances are doing and see if we can stay at Marymoor or choose a cheaper site. Jan suggested that we work with Olympic Kennel Club and promote it as the back to school cluster because they have a lot of specialties. She also suggested Belle Vernon.

New Business: none.

Old Business: Laura and Bo are meeting on Monday regarding the Idea of a Face book page.

Next Meeting: July 10th, 2013 6pm at the July Picnic at Marymoor Park.

Meeting adjourned at 8:36pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
Michelle Brown, Secretary.
